This series of archived historical photographs depicting humans and horses whereby, in varying degrees, both appear to morph into a single being and are named in accordance with their visual or narrative similarities to a specific Centaur in Greek mythology.

How To Break A Horse utilises a previously unworn Alexander McQueen pony-skin jacket gifted to the artists in exchange for use of their studios. Matt, photographed by Yusaku Aoki, is shown ‘breaking-in' the animal by wearing its hide through the streets of Dalston where the artists have their studio.

Simon and Garfunkel’s song Bridge Over Troubled Waters was a defining moment in both the rise and fall of their musical collaboration. Written by Paul Simon but given to Art Garfunkel to perform solo, it quickly became their most successful hit and is one of the all-time best-selling songs. But as tensions began to develop between the two artists the sight of Garfunkel performing the song solo to great acclaim became too much for Simon to bear and the divide between them became irreconcilable.

The chronicles of fictional musician Juan Carlode, serialised in Wonderland and Rollacoaster magazines, published quarterly from 2010 - 2016. The images have been torn from their magazines and pinned to the wall.

Documentary photographic images of a number of collaborators / characters from Juan Carlode’s travels are rendered in oil paint by the artists once back in their studio, continuing their action of role-playing.

In 1993 Matt turned down a record deal to take a place at art school. Years later in Germany, over a two-week period, he converted a gallery into a temporary music venue (‘The New Bomonti Club’, Bremen, 2008) where, from the assembled stage, he performed songs under the guise of nomadic musician, Juan Carlode. In wandering between representations of reality and story-telling, real-life and character, he created a complex collision of worlds both authentic and acted, part performance and part real, to invoke an ontologically uncertain realm.
